Rate:

$16.00 per hour.

Hours:

13-19.5 hours per week.

Duties:

  • Provide basic assistance, direction, general information, and explain library policies, services and procedures to UW students, staff, faculty and library visitors
  • Assist with library opening and/or closing procedures, may include opening or closing a library
  • Work at branch library service desks performing basic circulation functions like checking in and out library materials
  • Shelve library materials
  • Search, pull and process requested items
  • Pick up and process materials that have been returned or left unattended
  • Receive, pick up and sort mail, books and incoming deliveries
  • Shift books and other library materials
  • Conduct inventory of library materials
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to push loaded book trucks, lift up to 40lbs, and work on your feet for extended periods of time
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to serving a diverse group of users
  • Ability to work independently and follow procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and library users

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience providing customer service in a job or volunteer position
Other Job Details:

Shifts will be assigned at multiple libraries on the Seattle campus. Due to the amount of training required for the position, a willingness to work at least two quarters is requested.
