UW Libraries COVID-19 Updates

UW Bothell and UW Tacoma Libraries may have different reopening plans based on individual campus readiness.
Check campus library websites for the most accurate information.

Coronavirus testing in Odegaard Library: UW students, faculty and staff participants of the Husky Coronavirus Testing Program can get tested on the ground floor of Odegaard Library building near the By George Cafe, by appointment only.

STATUS: UW Libraries are in Phase 2. Libraries buildings will remain closed to the public in Phase 2.

    • UW Libraries Response to New WA State Guidance for Libraries 10/9
    • Libraries staff are available 24/7 to help you find available resources, assist with research and answer questions. Just ASK US.
    • See also "WHAT IS AVAILABLE" and "HELPFUL LINKS" below including the Libraries Phased Reopening Chart.

    • Updates: This page is updated consistently and we will communicate plans through central communications as soon as new information is available.

      When will Libraries open again?

      • The health and safety of our users and staff continue to guide our planning. As health conditions and guidance change, we will expand access and services as soon as it is feasible to do so safely.

      • We do not know how the current public health situation will evolve in our community, and a transition from one phase to the next is dependent on significant changes to public health status and the development of new prevention plans at each stage to ensure the health and safety of all.

      • Opening Libraries spaces will happen on a very limited scale in Phase 3. We are in the process of identifying potential limited locations for individual study, but those spaces are not confirmed.

      What is available?

      • Interlibrary Loan continues to fill requests for articles and book chapters. Any requests that cannot be filled with electronic resources will be requested from other libraries - this includes scans, but not physical materials at this time.
      • Access to e-resources: UW Libraries provides a wide range of e-resources including temporary access to over 1 million additional electronic books and resources through our HathiTrust partnership
