What is the OSC?

The Open Scholarship Commons (OSC) is an innovative, community engaged, and interdisciplinary space for knowledge creation and mobilization in service of open scholarship--open research for the public good. Specifically, the OSC brings knowledge creation services together in a one-stop shop.

By bringing together researchers, instructors, and students to do technology-intensive work across disciplinary boundaries with support from experts within and outside the UW Libraries, the OSC innovatively links two of the Libraries' roles:

  1. Providing access to information
  2. Supporting the ethical creation and dissemination of high quality scholarship, including digital scholarship

Led by the Libraries, with the active participation of campus partners, the OSC's creation and growth will reflect a commitment to advancing a core set of values, including equity, experimentation, flexibility, openness, and technology.

The OSC is being created through an iterative process, so watch this page for new developments as we move from virtual experimentation space to on-campus OSC!
